| Autumn Weekend and AGM 2010 Report And Photographs
The Old Time Dance Society has just held their Autumn Ball weekend event at Rugby. This event also incorporates the AGM.
The meeting was well attended with 86 members including 15 Area Public Relations Representatives. This year there was a new format for the meeting, after the AGM there followed an open forum where the members put forward some good ideas for consideration by the Committee.
The result of the ballot for places on the Committee:- Grahame Baldwin 392, Fred Boast 393, Paul Harding 396, Brian Hayley 224, Carole Hayley 200 and James Forster 199. The following people are duly elected onto the Committee, Grahame Baldwin, Fred Boast, Paul Harding, Brian Hayley and Carole Hayley.
The weekend also included 3 nights dancing at the Benn Hall with organist Philip Randles who played some superb music. There was a real mixture of old time dances throughout the weekend and a set dance on each evening. The set dances went down very well with 8 sets each evening. The number of dancers attending were - 100 on the Friday - 110 on the Saturday and 97 on the Sunday evening.
The leaders for the Friday night were the President Fred Boast along with his wife Joyce. By tradition the Chairman Grahame Baldwin along with his wife Bernice were the MC’s for the Saturday night. The Sunday night leaders were David & Wendy Griffiths. Wendy is a member of the Committee and they are also the owners of Savoy Music who sponsor the Old Time Dance Society.
The Ibis hotel used by the Society was good however some members thought it was situated in a strange location.
