My how time flies as we are fast approaching our Societies third event of 2017, our
A.G.M., which is being held in Eastbourne. A seaside resort in East Sussex on the
south coast 19 miles east of Brighton. It boasts all the usual amenities including
a pier, bandstand and the Sovereign harbour. Nearby points of interest; Beachy Head,
Seven Sisters, Herstmonceux Peversey Castles.
We will be based at the Claremont Hotel which occupies a prime sea front location
on the splendid Grand Parade BN21 3YL, with a variety of facilities including lounge,
bar, coffee shop , free WI-FI, complimentary toiletries and flat screen TV. The meeting
will take place at the hotel on Saturday morning.
We will be tripping the light fantastic at the historic Assembly rooms Grove Road
BN21 4UG. It was designed by W Tadman-Faulks in 1880 and opened in 1886, a principle
feature being the off centre 130ft high clock tower. We will be dancing in the theatre
style ballroom with a lovely floor, there is a small lift and nearby parking.
I am sure you will be delighted by our choice of leaders for this event. Friday will
be led by our very own golden girls Joy Lewis and Wendy Cosh always very elegant
and lovely to watch. Saturday as per usual will be hosted by your Chairman, Mr Grahame
Baldwin accompanied by his lovely wife and our events secretary Bernice and what
a great job they both do. Finally we have the very talented Nigel and Hilary Carter.
Nigel is the societies operations manager and Hilary is responsible for providing
the beautiful stage floral displays we all love and admire. Music will be provided
by David Ingley so we will be in good hands.
Don't forget to bring extra spending money as there will be a raffle on Saturday
evening with some excellent prizes. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Sue
